Split PDF
How to Split a PDF Into Separate Pages or Page Ranges
By SnapPDF · 5 min read
Splitting a PDF means taking a large document and pulling out only the pages you need, either one page at a time or as a range such as pages 3 to 7. People do this to send one section of a report, to share a single signed page, or to cut a long scan into smaller files. Here is how to do it quickly without installing anything or uploading your document.
Common reasons to split a PDF
- Send only the relevant pages of a long contract or report.
- Pull one invoice out of a monthly statement.
- Break a scanned book chapter or lecture handout into smaller files.
- Remove cover pages or blank pages by keeping just the pages you want.
Step by step: split a PDF with SnapPDF
- Open the Split PDF tool.
- Upload your PDF by clicking the upload area or dragging the file in.
- Choose the pages you want. You can pick individual pages or enter a custom range.
- Click extract and download the new PDF containing only those pages.
Your original file is not changed. SnapPDF creates a new PDF with the pages you selected.
How page ranges work
A range uses the first and last page you want, for example 3-7 for pages three to seven. If you need pages that are not next to each other, such as page 1 and pages 5 to 8, extract them together or run the tool twice and merge the results afterwards.
Keep sensitive files private
Documents you split are often confidential: contracts, medical forms, bank statements. Because SnapPDF runs in your browser, the pages are processed on your device and are not uploaded to a server. That is the main difference from many online splitters.

Frequently asked questions
Can I extract just one page from a PDF?
Yes. Select a single page in the Split PDF tool and download it as its own PDF.
Does splitting reduce the quality of my pages?
No. The pages are copied into the new file, they are not re-rendered as low quality images.
Is there a page limit?
SnapPDF has no file limit. Very large PDFs depend on your device's memory because they are processed locally.
